Hello – please can we ask for just a couple of minutes of your time. We are group of local parents who would like to seek your views and experiences as we want to share our concerns with Southampton City Council about lack of suitable school places for children with support needs in mainstream schools and support for home educators where this is a positive parental choice.
Before we do this, we want to collect in views and stories from local parents who have encountered difficulties such as not being supported in their home schooling choice; or who feel pushed in home schooling because schools have failed to meet their child’s needs; or have had children on short term hours or exclusions; or have failed to find suitable mainstream education or training for their child.
We are planning to hold some open drop in sessions on Fri 29th Sept 10- 12.30am and Thurs 5th Oct 1-3pm at Southampton Voluntary Services so if you would like to pop in (children welcome) to tell us more or to find out more or get involved then we look forward to seeing you. Following this we will then work with SVS to arrange a meeting with senior SCC staff and Councillors for them to listen directly to parent’s voices.
There 10 short tick box questions we would be grateful if you could answer but also places to add any comments or experiences you would like to share and think are relevant
