1. The level of funding available from central government for 2016/17 is unclear at the moment. We may need to increase our share of the council tax by a maximum of 1.99%. This would increase council tax for a band D property to £128.91. What do you think about this level of increase in council tax?

10. Do you agree with the Council's priority: "to protect the local environment whilst supporting economic growth"?

To meet this priority we are:

  • producing a local plan to balance the need for economic growth and housing with preserving the character of the Cotswolds to be submitted to government by autumn 2016
  • delivering initiatives to reduce waste to landfill and increase recycling
  • continuing to improve and enhance car parks district wide
  • delivering a new strategic site and infrastructure in Cirencester to support housing and employment needs locally.

We will also:

  • produce an Economic Development Action Plan and establish an Destination Management Organisation to help the visitor economy
  • work with developers to redevelop the Brewery Court scheme in Cirencester.

To meet this priority we plan to:

  • deliver 575 affordable homes by 2018;
  • lobby for an improved ambulance service and to improve road links and road safety;
  • implement a Community Infrastructure Levy on developers to fund infrastructure required because of development, working with communities on these matters;
  • working with others to provide high speed broadband to all parts of the district and to improve mobile phone signal coverage.
