Wigtown Festival Company - Our Community Survey |
The success of the Wigtown Book Festival and other events over the years shows that Wigtown Festival Company is an important organisation in the area. We have the potential to grow both social and economic benefit in Wigtown and beyond and want to make sure that this is driven by the people of Wigtown. We currently rent the premises at Number 11 North Main Street and believe that there may be significant benefits to securing ownership of these premises on behalf of the community. We are hoping to benefit from the ability to renovate and upgrade the premises to be fit for purpose, enabling a better provision of events and initiatives for both visitors and local people.
Owning assets however, is not without its risks and long term maintenance liability as well as the challenge to secure funding for the upgrade will need to be taken into consideration.
We will only go ahead with the proposed acquisition if the community supports it, if it will make a difference locally, if it will be financially viable and will not duplicate other activity in the village. To ensure that this is the case, we want to ask your views. Please take a few minutes to fill in this short survey. This research has been funded by Scottish Enterprise and the South of Scotland Economic Partnership and is being delivered independently by Community Enterprise (an organisation with experience of community based research).
All information gathered will be kept confidential. Unfortunately due to the coronavirus issue, paper copies of the survey are not available but if you feel you are not able to complete it, and/or want to have your views recorded, please call Douglas on 07989 306374 or email douglas@communityenterprise.co.uk
