Greening the Limehouse Cut -
|
Reedbeds are really great for waterways. They provide wildlife with food and places to live and they act as natural filters in removing pollutants from water. The colourful vegetation can improve people's enjoyment of these urban waterways too!
Thames21, with the help of local community volunteers, will be installing 280 linear metres of new vegetation along the walls of the Limehouse Cut later this year. Funded by the Greater London Authorities' Greener City Fund, Poplar Harca, the Environment Agency and the Tower Hill Trust.

We need your help to decide where this vegetation should go! Which sites need greening and which don't. Please take a look at the sites below, the Canal and River Trust have kindly given us permission to install floating reedbeds at these locations.
If you have any thoughts on these sites please jot them in the boxes provided. We want to hear if you think this site will be great for a new reedbed or otherwise; if you think a site will not be suitable for any reason please tell us.
Please add your comments by Friday 1st June.
Thank you very much for your help!
