Play Area Improvements at Westonfields, Totnes

The Westonfields play area is below the Spar shop and across the road from the Primary School (between Weston Lane and Westonfields).

South Hams District Council is looking to improve Westonfields play area as the existing play equipment is dated and has reached the end of its useful life. We are planning to completely replace the play equipment within the fenced play area, and to make the space a more exciting one for local children and the community.

At the same time, we will also look to install new picnic benches, seating, and new safety surfacing below equipment as required.

The District Council as owners of the site are keen to ensure the new equipment is exciting and has play value for children, whilst being mindful of the need to ensure it is safe and easy to maintain for the long term.

The aim of this survey is to find out what sort of activities you and your children/ grandchildren wish to experience in this play area to guide the specification that we put out to play design companies.

Please bear in mind when responding that first and foremost we are trying to find out what children want, not necessarily what parents want – the two might not be the same!

Please complete one questionnaire per adult/young person. Adults can of course help children as required, and can also complete a survey for themselves.

There is wildlife interest in maintaining a tree/shrub corridor so it is unlikely that there could be significant opening up along this stretch, but it might be possible to create an access point if it is safe to do so.
