Survey of Parents' and Carers' Views

Thank you for taking part in this survey.

I am collecting the views of parents and carers of disabled children/children with special needs in order to provide advice, support and information for other parents in a similar situation.  Many parents of disabled children face additional associated challenges in practical, physical and emotional terms. As a parent of a disabled child myself, I am aware of how isolated families can feel when life doesn't always follow an expected, mainstream, non-disabled path.

It is my aim to develop a website, www.affinityhub.uk, that acts as a virtual emotional home for such families where they can seek solace from other families' experiences that may mirror their own, as well as signposting them to organisations, books and research that may be helpful.  The site also lists counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists who have expertise in this area who may be able to provide emotional support in times of need.

If you wish to discuss any of the questions further, or have found answering any of the questions distressing please do contact me on griffinpsychology@gmail.com

By adding your comments to the survey I am assuming your consent to them being quoted on the website www.affinityhub.uk.  Your comments will remain anonymous; I will not include your name or email address on the site.  It would be helpful to have the sex, age and diagnosis (or areas of difficulty if there is no diagnosis) of your child with special needs, which would then be mentioned after the quote (i.e. mum of son, 8, with autism), but this is optional.

Thanks you for taking part and sharing your experiences with other parents.
