Please help ABTA to provide some evidence to officials on the impact of these speculative comments on bookings within the UK travel industry. Over the past few days (20-23 March), we’ve seen increasing speculation about the ability of Brits to travel abroad this summer, including comments from a SAGE adviser and Defence Secretary, Ben Wallace, suggesting the current ban on non-essential travel should or could be retained beyond 17 May. Can you indicate whether this had a negative impact on new bookings or enquiries?

* 4. Can you estimate the fall in new bookings an enquiries volumes you have experienced since the weekend (comparing Friday 19 March - Tuesday 23 March with the same period in the week before, Friday 12 March - Tuesday 16 March)

Example - if you had 20 new bookings or enquiries last week (Friday-Tuesday), and 2 during the same period this week, the answer would be -90%
