Manchester Dental Implant Clinic

SAFETY 1st FOR OUR PATIENTS & THE TEAM:

Scientific evidence has proven that dental practices have been at the forefront of decontamination and prevention of cross-infection (such as the AIDS and Hepatitis , SERS, MERS and other Corona viruses) for years, employing the latest techniques, in specially designated decontamination and sterilization rooms to ensure the highest level of safety for our patients and the members of our team. We review and audit our decontamination procedures regularly which are examined by the CQC and use specialized equipment such as vacuum autoclaves, medical washer disinfectants and ultra-sonic instrument decontamination techniques. The sterilization cycles are electronically recorded and audited regularly.

We have evaluated the scientific evidence and official national and international guidelines and modified the way in which we deliver dental implant care & treatment in view of the lessons we have learned from the current COVID-19 pandemic.  We have heavily invested in new technology and specifically implemented a multi-layered, evidence-based, risk management protocol. These strategies have been specifically designed to reduce the risk of transmission of airborne viral infections to our staff and our patients, making use of the best practice guidelines and the latest cross-infection control and disinfection facilities. These include the use of germicidal UVGI ultra-violet lights, High Volume extra-oral air evacuation system and hospital grade isolation-room, (HEPA) filtration systems to extract and kill viruses at source when carrying out aerosol generating procedures (AGPs) and mechanically ventilate the atmosphere in our operating rooms.  We have also installed an electrolytic hypochlorous acid (HOCL) generator - a powerful organic disinfectant and water treatment substance which has been documented to be much stronger than sodium hypochlorite (bleach). We use HOCL not only as an exceptionally effective surface disinfectant, but also in steamers/foggers alongside our very high standard of decontamination procedures.

We have appointed a dedicated environmental decontamination officer whose job is to look after all decontamination procedures and anti-viral measures, at regular intervals, throughout the day.

We  carry out daily staff monitoring and health checks to detect early signs of any possible corona virus infection amongst the team members. Daily body temperature checks are carried out routinely for staff and patients.

Moreover, we have categorized dental procedures (e.g. Aerosol Producing Procedures APG) and use appropriate PPE accordingly. Invasive surgical procedures are carried out in an operating theatre where the patients and the team are gowned with surgical attire to reduce the risk of cross-infection. Finally, our practice has access to daily COVID-19 testing which is available for staff testing when necessary.
