Survey Introduction & Disclaimer

In the UK, the ‘Smart Power’, ‘Distributed Energy’ and ‘District Heating & Cooling’ sectors have enjoyed significant growth in recent years, and expertise built up in these areas is leading to opportunities to export home-grown products and services to overseas markets. In the EU, the Smart Power sector more than doubled between 2015 and 2017. The global District Heating and Cooling market, by consumption volume, is expected to reach over £170 billion by 2024, growing at over 9% per year.

With the fast-paced growth of these sectors in international markets, there is massive scope for UK companies to get in on the action. The Department for International Trade (DIT), The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), and the Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO) are keen to ensure that UK companies operating in these sectors do not miss out on these growing export opportunities.

That is why, with the help of various industry organisations and associations, Delta Energy & Environment is populating a database of innovative UK companies active in the District Heating & Cooling, Distributed Energy and Smart Power (including Energy Storage) sectors. The database will be owned and maintained by the Energy Systems Catapult, and will be used to promote UK expertise overseas.
