UKAS Survey into the 4th Industrial Revolution (IR4.0)

UKAS: we are the UK’s National Accreditation Body. We’re working with government and our UK Quality Infrastructure partners to get a better understanding of the impact of IR4.0 on certification and accreditation.

Certification: by this we mean where an organisation (e.g. manufacturer, service provider) obtains a certificate of conformity from a third-party conformity assessment body (or certification body).

Accreditation: by this we mean the formal recognition (by UKAS) of the competence of a conformity assessment body to perform specific conformity assessment tasks.
