Welcome to Track The Act 2019/20 survey

Question Title

This questionnaire is for unpaid carers to give their views on the rights they have received under the Social Services and Well-Being (Wales) Act 2014 (the Act). A carer defined under the Act is someone who provides or intends to provide care for a friend or family member.

The Act places various duties on councils. In particular:
  • Local councils must provide an information, advice and assistance service with information on care and support and provide advice on where to access support
  • Where it appears that you have a need for support as a carer (either now or in the future) a right to an assessment of your needs
  • The right to request a carers needs assessment
  • The right for you to state if you are willing and able to start caring or continue in your caring role
Since the Act was introduced Carers Wales, through this questionnaire, has gathered your experiences in an attempt to understand whether progress is being made. We have analysed and used your responses from the last 3 years  to write briefings and have made key recommendations aimed at politicians  and policy makers. Many of these recommendations have been taken forward  by Welsh Government and councils to improve how the Act is working.

We need to continue the momentum and are grateful to you for helping us by completing the questionnaire.
