About this questionnaire

Tiverton Town Council has been leading on the development of a Neighbourhood Plan for Tiverton Parish. A Steering Group, comprising volunteers from the community, was set up by the Town Council to lead this piece of work.

The Neighbourhood Plan is a document that contains planning and land-use policies that, if agreed by the community, will apply to Tiverton Parish - this means that any planning applications relating to the Parish will have to have regard to both the Mid Devon Local Plan and this Tiverton Neighbourhood Plan, which adds more locally specific detail.

We have reached a major milestone in the Tiverton Neighbourhood Plan; the so-called 'Pre-Submission' or 'draft' Plan is ready and we are embarking on an eight week consultation with local people on this.  We want to hear your views. We want to understand if you are content with the proposed policies or if you would like to make further comments.

Following this consultation period, the Steering Group will carefully consider all of the comments received and decide how to amend the Plan accordingly.

We will then submit the final draft of the Tiverton Neighbourhood Plan to Mid Devon District Council, who will conduct a further period of consultation on it.  The Plan will then be examined by an Independent Examiner. If it is found to be in conformity with the planning legislation, there will be a local referendum on the Neighbourhood Plan, and you will be able to cast your vote on whether it will form part of the planning framework for the parish.

This survey asks you to tick boxes to share the extent to which you agree or disagree with the policies contained in the Pre-Submission Version Neighbourhood Plan. You will also have an opportunity to submit comments.  In order to complete this survey, we strongly encourage you to please read the full text of the Plan. Click here to view the Plan and supporting documents - you will need to click on the TNP Regulation 14 Consultation Documents.  In the document, proposed Policies are contained in the green boxes and Actions (not policies) in the orange boxes.

We estimate that it should take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Please try to complete the whole survey, as your views are extremely important to us.

Finally, as this is a formal consultation, we will ask you for your name and contact details. These will not be made public, however if you would like to be kept informed of progress on the Tiverton Neighbourhood Plan you can opt in to this. Also - importantly - if you are happy for us to pass on your details to Mid Devon District Council so that they can contact you directly about the next consultation on the Plan, please also let us know.
