TERMLY REVIEWS OF SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

How often do you / your young person meet with their educational setting to review their targets and the support (SEN or EHCP) that they are getting?

We have been told that all Cheshire East settings should carry out reviews every term to make sure the support is working.

It could be a quick meeting with the TA or class teacher after school, a coffee morning with the SENCO or something more formal as required,  but it should be documented and agreed. We have heard from some members that these termly reviews are simply not happening for their child or young person

We want to know what is *ACTUALLY* happening to make sure the provision is working - please take 2 mins to complete this quick quiz so we can get a better understanding

Question Title

* The SEN Code of Practice sets out the expectation that SEN Support should be reviewed on a termly basis.

Where children / young people have Education Health & Care Plans these focus on longer term (end of key stage) outcomes. Cheshire East's Inclusion & Quality Team have told us that schools and other educational setting should also have an EHCP Implementation Plan (which uses the SEN Support Plan paperwork) to set short term outcomes working towards those in the EHCP, and that this should be reviewed on a termly basis.

Does your child / young person's support get reviewed EVERY TERM?

Question Title

* If the outcomes and support are reviewed, is there paperwork to document and support the process?
