The Virtual Orchestra Fringe
The Virtual Orchestra is a digital symphony orchestra on your doorstep, powered by the Philharmonia Orchestra, and runs from 2 July to 10 August 2018, Riverside Square, Bedford.
Register your interest to take part in The Virtual Orchestra Fringe by connecting your organisation to this city-wide celebration of music and the arts through a performance, event, or exhibition. Whether it is an existing project, or you are creating something new to respond to and engage with The Virtual Orchestra, we want to hear about it.
Examples of The Virtual Orchestra Fringe activities may include:
Music ensembles performing The Planets at, or inside, the installation
A community coffee morning with The Planets themed cakes
Dance ensembles performing contemporary choreography to Holst's work
Grime collectives responding to The Virtual Orchestra in live cyphers
The Virtual Orchestra Fringe activity may take place before, during, or after the installation dates, and may take place at the installation or elsewhere in the city. The Philharmonia Orchestra is not able to manage the delivery of the projects; this remains under the remit of the submitting organisation.
Expression of Interest forms will be reviewed by The Virtual Orchestra Steering Group and Philharmonia Orchestra's Audience Development Manager. When programming successful applications in The Virtual Orchestra Fringe, we will consider the project/event's relevance to The Virtual Orchestra (e.g. musically, or thematically); representation of local communities; diversity of genre, art forms, and inter-disciplinary work. Successful organisations will be contacted by 21 May 2018 for all Bedford activity.
