1. Foreword - Cllr. Steve Curran - Leader, Hounslow Council

As Leader of Hounslow Council I am tremendously proud of our diverse and entrepreneurial business community. I firmly believe that there is a vibrant and innovative culture in our borough that makes it a great place to have a business. The Council will always encourage more investment into our borough, and events such as the Hounslow Festival of Business and the Hounslow Business Awards demonstrate that our businesses are thriving.

However, there is more that can be done, but unfortunately cuts to our budgets mean we cannot do everything we would like, and indeed everything our business community would like us to do to support them. Across London more and more local authorities are helping their local business communities by supporting the development of Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) – business-led and business-funded partnerships that lead on the delivery of specific projects and services in their immediate locality. There are over 60 BIDs in London already, and over 300 across the UK.

We are undertaking a feasibility study to see whether there is an appetite and demand from businesses for BIDs to be established in their areas. Initially we are looking at Brentford, Chiswick and Feltham and we would like to hear from businesses in these areas. We would like to hear from you, your opinion matters. If there is a clear enthusiasm for a BID to be established we will support and develop that enthusiasm into a working proposal so that you can have the opportunity to take the lead in your area.
Thanks for taking part, we look forward to hearing your views.
