As you may have seen in our most recent Parish Council newsletter, with VE day and VJ marking the end of World of War 2, we’ve been thinking about how we honour and commemorate the sacrifices made 75 years ago, whilst at the same time reflecting on the impact of all wars and the peace and freedom that are hard won and we should hold dear.

With our parish being widespread and diverse, with a mix of old and new architecture, we realise that there probably isn’t a one sizes fits all for everyone.

Ideas range from commemorative ‘objects’ such a sites of street furniture such as benches, to tree arboretums as spaces for reflection and togetherness. Whatever we do, we want it to be meaningful and sustainable as a permanent feature of our community.
