Worplesdon Memorial Hall is at the centre of the community in Worplesdon and the Trustees wish to enhance its appeal, broaden its usage and develop further the Sime Gallery.

To secure the long term future of the hall and to enable as many different user groups as possible to access the Hall and facilities, the Trustees have been looking at possible physical changes which are required for the Hall. This includes the Sime Gallery, which houses over 800 items by Sidney Sime, former artist, illustrator, and caricaturist who lived in the village.

 It is therefore proposed:

·         To enlarge the Sime gallery to create greater access and provide more space to display Sime's artwork and to hold exhibitions and workshops;

·         To upgrade totally the kitchen to offer additional full catering and cafe facilities;

·         To upgrade the toilets to include provision both for disabled and those using the grounds;

·         To build in chair storage space

·         To provide a community cafe for gallery visitors, recreation ground and Hall users as well as for individuals in the local and wider community;

·         To increase the usage of the Hall for all age groups and offer more services to the community

It is intended to divide the project into 2 phases.

Phase 1 will be the extension to the kitchen, creation of chair store, and the provision of an outside toilet in 2016/17.

Phase 2 will be the extension of the gallery and will require separate funding: it is envisaged that phase 2 will

take place in 2018/2019

The Trustees would like to gain as much feedback on the proposals from the local community, including current and potential user groups and would be grateful if you could take the time to complete this survey
