Introduction

Welcome
Thanks for taking the time to do this survey.

What is this survey all about?
We’ve got some questions - not too many - to try to find out what sort of support organisations and people in Fife would like to help them with community engagement.

It should take less than 10 minutes to complete.

What is community engagement?
There are technical definitions and even national standards, but basically, we’re talking about organisations and services involving local people in the design, decision-making and delivery of local services.  This is just as important for the third sector as it is the public sector.

Who is it for?
This survey is for anybody who has a paid or unpaid role that will involve working with local people – whether that’s the main part of their role or not.  Most organisations and services will want to engage with local communities and people.  Increasingly, funders are asking to see evidence of need and for certain projects community engagement is essential - for example a community asset transfer, a community right to buy, or any project that has an impact on a local community and where they need to have been given the opportunity to have their say.

Who is asking these questions?
Fife Voluntary Action (FVA) is conducting this survey as part of a bigger project to develop resources (including training sessions and a website) to promote good community engagement practices, to share learning, to improve practice and to support those who are engaging communities.  We’re doing this as part of Fairer Fife funded project with the Fife Partnership and a range of local stakeholders.

What will happen as a result of this survey?
We will quickly analyse the results and use what we hear to shape the community engagement resources we’re developing with our partners.  Training sessions will start to be delivered before summer (2019!) with additional resources rolled out during the course of this year.

More information
FVA is supporting the Community Engagement Champions in Fife group which is committed to providing community engagement related training in the coming year to a wide range of audiences. The group consists of around 50 third and public sector practitioners. To find out more, or to join the group, please contact Dave McGrath at dave@fva.org

Whose opinion is it anyway?!
If you're a practitioner, please share your views and opinions with us. If you're completing this on behalf of a community group, charity etc. and you're not a practitioner, please try to reflect the views of your organisation as best you can.

The closing date for the survey is Thursday 9th May.

Thank you very much for taking the survey - we really appreciate it.
