David Lidington: Taking the flak as Minister for Europe without actually running the policy, and doing so with good grace.

Tracey Crouch: A duck-to-water appointment as Minister for Sport, and making a success of it.

David Davis: Now in auto-rebellion mode. You may not like it – or him. But he is skilled at using the Commons for his purposes.

Lord Faulks: Providing much of the intellectual back-up for Gove’s human rights reform push as a Lord Minister.

Nick Gibb: Mr Continuity – a Minister restored to work at Education that he loves and knows.

Rehman Chishti: His single-handed campaign to rebrand ISIS as Daesh has been a model of how to use the Chamber effectively.

Theresa May: As a senior Minister, the decision she must make on whether to back Leave or Remain will be seminal.

John Major: David Cameron’s not-so-secret weapon in the campaign for Remain. A chance for him to be revenged on the “bastards”.

Stephen Crabb/Ruth Davidson: They tend to operate as a team, and this joint force for social justice conservatism is one worth watching.

Zac Goldsmith: In the front line of the first big electoral test next spring of where the two main parties are.

David Cameron: Freed by his election victory to let his One Nation instincts flourish during his Party Conference address.

Johnny Mercer: His maiden speech on veterans’ care was a Parliamentary tour de force.

Charles Walker: Spoke up, as he opposed the move to sack the Speaker, for every backbencher who’s felt cheated by a cynical Executive.
