What is an Environmental Improvement Programme (EIP) project?
An EIP is a physical project providing benefit for Dover District Council (DDC) residents, such as:
- improving safety
- improving the accessibility to an area
- improving the appearance of an area
- improving cleanliness/tidiness of an area
- improving the use of an area
- contribute to the health and wellbeing of residents
Example of projects from previous years;
- Added new signs such as ‘no ball games’ or building signs.
- Building new bin areas to improve the look and usability of rubbish storage areas,
- Installed fencing or bollards to protect grassed areas from being driven/parked on
- Laid tarmac or hard standing
- Put benches in a communal garden or grassed area
Project Criteria
Projects submitted for consideration must meet criteria to be taken further. The project must be:
- benefit to a local community rather than an individual
- on land owned by Dover District Council
- in areas of mostly Dover District Council owned housing; at least 60% DDC tenants.
- an improvement to the appearance of an area or contribute positively to the health, safety and wellbeing of residents
- affordable for on-going maintenance costs
- of minimal impact to other services
- affordable
- not able to be funded from another budget
- have support from significant numbers of local people
- have support from the local Housing Officer, Estate Assistant and/or Independent Living Manager
- straightforward to implement and be completed within a reasonable timescale
- No additional running costs that go above current contactor remit.
