The B&I StrEATfood Awards is back! Now in its second year, this unique competition is hunting for the UK’s most creative street food chef from the workplace and event catering sectors. Showcase your street food innovations to the industry for your chance to be crowned our winner and take home the £1,000 prize!

We’re inviting caterers, chefs, food/menu development chefs, unit managers from contract caterers and self-managed staff restaurants to enter the competition. The event is open for entries with all entries taken online, completely free of charge. The entry deadline is Friday 26th January 2018.

Once shortlisted, you will be required to compete with 15 other finalists to cook a technical, signature and meat-free dish using the cooking equipment supplied.

You will have:

·         A two zone induction hob
·         An electric griddle

You can also bring your own light duty equipment if necessary, for example; a small table top fryer, microwave or blender.

Whilst you can use your own ingredients for the signature challenge, the technical challenge will require you to solely use the ingredients that are supplied in your product basket; this will be given to you at the start of the day. The ingredients for the Meat-Free round will be supplied by Quorn – you will have the choice of three different meat-free components to prepare your dish.

Each of the dishes will be reviewed by our judging panel, consisting of key industry figures including Henry Norman, editor of B&I Catering magazine and representatives from the event sponsors. Four awards will be presented during the ceremony that evening; the Best Technical Street Food Dish, Best Signature Street Food Dish, Best Meat-Free Dish and the Overall B&I Catering Street Food Award Winner – who will also win the £1,000 prize.

The event will take place on Tuesday 20th March 2018 at the Islington Metal Works in London. The closing date for competition entries is Friday 26th January 2018. Further details and timings will be supplied on application.
