Staghills Play Area - Survey

Proffitts - Investing in Communities, have been working alongside Newchurch Village Community Association and Rossendale Borough Council on plans to improve and upgrade Staghills Play Area. Staghills is a large area with approximately 600 houses (and 100 more proposed at the former Dark Lane football ground). There are 2 schools and a nursery within 500m of the play area with 747 pupils. The nearest play facilities are Waterfoot Centre and at Edgeside Park, which aren’t easily accessible for children unless they are accompanied which is why Staghills Play Area is important.

A sketch below has been drawn up with some suggestions for improving the existing play area. The key features are:
 The play area will be moved closer to the path through the site and be fully fenced to keep dogs out. All old play equipment will be removed and the area grassed over
 A tarmac bike track will be created around the play area so small children can learn to ride their bikes safely
 New play equipment will cater for children up to 12 years old and will be challenging and fun but accessible for children of all abilities.

If you could let us know your thoughts about the design / planned changes, it would be really helpful. The deadline for questionnaires to be completed is Friday 14 December 2018.

Thank you for your time.
