Background
Working with colleagues in industry, colleges and schools, the Scottish Textiles Skills Partnership has identified an opportunity to develop a new qualification - Skills for Work in the Textiles Industry. This new award will:-
- introduce learners to the scope of job roles within the textile manufacturing industry
- develop knowledge of the journey taken by textile products from raw material to finished product
- develop practical skills used in the textile manufacturing industry
- develop learners to become effective job seekers and employees in the textile manufacturing industry
- develop a positive and responsible attitude to work
- develop communication and team-working skills
- develop practical skills used in the textile manufacturing industry
- develop learners to become effective job seekers and employees in the textile manufacturing industry

A Qualification Development Team has been working to draft the content of this proposed new award and we would like now to consult with the wider school and FE sector to get your feedback on the proposed new qualification.
