Short Breaks Overview

Short Breaks provide opportunities for disabled children and young people aged 0 – 25 years to spend time away from their primary carers.  They aim to provide parents and carers a necessary and valuable break away from their caring responsibilities to recharge their batteries.  They enable children and young people to have the chance to develop new friendships, take part in new experiences and to have fun doing positive activities such as swimming, youth clubs and days trips with friends and much more.

Redcar and Cleveland’s funded Short Breaks are provided to families by our own staff and by specially selected organisations to deliver services on our behalf.

Some services are ‘Self Referral’ where you make direct contact with the organisations and some require a ‘Social Worker Referral’ where, following an assessment, you will work with your Social Worker to decide which service will best meet your child’s needs.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council are undertaking our annual review of Short Breaks Services and would welcome your feedback by completing this survey.  The feedback received will help us to:

·  Identify what is working well
·  Plan and develop future services
·  Identify any gaps in our current offer
·  Identify what needs to be improved
