This information outlines changes to the RPS as a result of the abolition of Contracting Out in 2016

Over the last year the trade unions have had a series of meetings with the TOCs in connection with the ending of contracting out of the Second State Pension (S2P) which has arisen from pension reforms introduced by the government.

We need to brief you on those changes and to ask you to participate in an online referendum ballot about your employer’s proposals that will see changes to your benefits under the Railway Pensions Scheme.

Before you proceed it is essential that you read the full circular via this link http://tssa.org.uk/en/whats-new/news/index.cfm/scotrail-railway-pension-scheme-update and the company proposals via this link http://tssa.org.uk/en/whats-new/news/index.cfm/scotrail-rps-proposal

TSSA recommend that you vote to accept these proposals on the basis. All trades unions have participated fully in the negotiations to achieve this outcome.

Once you have made yourself aware of the proposed changes please ensure you respond to the referendum below no later than Tuesday 23rd February 2016
