Why are we doing this?

We have embarked on an extraordinary journey to create a new museum for London. It will sit in atmospheric but currently dilapidated market buildings, at the heart of one of the capital’s most historic and creative quarters, Smithfield General Market, forming an integral part of the City of London Corporation’s Culture Mile.

Research to date has demonstrated that the sporting past of London will be a central part of the new museum.

Consequently, the Museum of London has commissioned Sporting Heritage, the subject specialist network for sport, to conduct baseline research about the sporting heritage of London which already exists.

The aim of this survey is to establish a clear picture of sporting collections relating to the sporting heritage of London.

This will help the Museum of London plan and understand how to develop their sporting collections, the types of stories which they may tell in permanent displays and temporary exhibitions, and the partnerships they can develop.

Many thanks for taking the time to complete this survey. It will take approximately 20 minutes.
