Impact of COVID-19 on BAME victims of Domestic Abuse, Honour Based Abuse, Forced Marriage and FGM
About this survey
About this survey
This survey is aimed at local and national charities working with victims of domestic abuse, honour based abuse, forced marriage and FGM.
We recognise that this a very challenging and uncertain time for most. For some charities providing specialist support, COVID-19 has had a significant impact not only on the service they deliver, but their future sustainability.
We have heard across the sector about the many challenges currently being faced as a result of the restrictions. Not only do we share these concerns, but we want to amplify the reality for BAME victims, ensuring their experience is understood by all key stakeholders, including central government.
Whilst there has been much reported in the media about increased levels of domestic abuse to mainstream domestic abuse services, there is very little reported on how government restrictions are affecting BAME victims. We know that BAME victims of DA, HBA, FM and FGM face additional barriers in seeking help, which has only increased since the government lockdown.
In light of this and on behalf of BAME victims everywhere, this survey seeks to bring specialist organisations together to share their real experiences since the lockdown. Collectively, we can ensure that key stakeholders in the public sector understand the impact of COVID-19 for ALL victims of DA, HBA, FM and FGM. Together we can elevate their voice and highlight the barriers that specialist organisations and BAME victims face.
This short survey will capture your organisation's experience since the government restrictions were implemented. We will share the finding from this survey with all participants prior to public release. The findings will help to inform the next steps and actions that need to be taken and particularly how the government should be responding to meet the needs of BAME victims both now and in the future.
