CCAN Events & Training Survey, June 2019

The Community Climate Action Network (CCAN) supports community groups in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derby & Derbyshire that are taking action to tackle climate change. It is primarily funded by the Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Local Authority Energy Partnership, a partnership of local authorities in the area.

We'd like your opinion on what events and/or training we should provide in the next nine months.

(We also provide: a monthly newsletter, a website, and a desk-based research service known as The Ask Me A Climate Question' service).

* 1. Which of the following would you be most interested in attending in the next nine months. Tick as many as apply.

An accredited Carbon Literacy course. (one day course)

This course would equip you to help you and your community bring about the rapid reduction in carbon emissions required in the next few years.

Carbon Literacy is defined as "An awareness of the carbon dioxide costs and impacts of everyday activities, and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.”

The Carbon Literacy Project offers a day’s worth of Carbon Literacy learning, covering: climate change science, carbon footprints, social equity in relation to climate change, what you can do to act, and strategies and skills for communicating action on climate change. If there is enough interest, the CCAN will create a Carbon Literacy-accredited course which is tailored to communities and to the geographical area we cover (Nottingham, Notts, Derby & Derbyshire).

A networking event (half or one day), to allow you to meet with other groups in the area to share ideas, successes and challenges.

Last time we ran these they included:
-Informal, interactive round-table workshops from a number of groups in the area about their latest projects
-A workshop on creating a culture that will enable a group to survive and thrive for the long haul
-A bring-and-share lunch
-Time for informal networking
