1. Welcome

Language Quality in Maternity” is a collaborative research project (REC Ref. 20/WA/0129) between the University of East Anglia (UEA) and the Language Shop (TLS). It investigates the most effective communication in maternity settings where healthcare providers and users do not share the same spoken language in the UK. Click here for the Participant Information Sheet.

We know little about video-mediated interpreting (VMI) in maternity settings and your help will shape future interpreting services in the UK. If you are over 18 and have provided spoken language interpreting or translation in healthcare settings, we would be very grateful if you would help us with this study.

The study includes two parts: Part I is this questionnaire, which may take 30 minutes, or longer, to complete (Tip: A bigger screen makes it easier). However, you can "save and continue later" with the same link on the same device. Please email Li Li, the research student, if you would prefer a hard copy. This questionnaire will close on Wednesday, 15 June 2022. As a token of appreciation, a prize draw for a £50 Amazon voucher is open to all.

Part II is a follow-up in-person/telephone/online interview of 30-60 minutes. If you would like to participate in the interview, please leave your contact details at the end of this questionnaire.

Your participation in both parts is voluntary and anonymous. The risks are minimal, and there are no direct personal benefits to you for participating in this study, besides the prize draw.

Thank you very much for your assistance. For more information, please email Li Li at l.li11@uea.ac.uk.
