Introduction

The UK Government is providing funding for research projects to collect vital data on the UK transport refrigeration sector - cold chain. This data will allow the Government to formulate future transport cold chain strategies and look to work with the sector on future support programs.
Why do we need the survey? There is lack of accurate data on the exact contributions of the refrigerated road transportation to the UK emissions. The government is committed to net-zero emissions of all sectors of the economy by 2050. As part of this drive, the Department of Transport together with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero commissioned the Transport, Industrial and Commercial Refrigeration (TICR) project and the Zemo project for accelerating transport to zero emissions in the UK. The survey is part of the two funded projects. The output of the research will help government in formulation of sector specific policies as well as incentives required by businesses along cold-chain value chain to drive the expected radical decarbonisation of the refrigeration sector.
All survey data will be kept confidential, following all General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rules, and will only be used for the purpose of the two funded projects. The surveys have been approved by the University of Birmingham’s ethics committee. The data will be pseudonymised and aggregated in any reports or output published from the research projects. Should you need any clarifications, please contact the survey lead Dr Xinfang Wang (x.wang.10@bham.ac.uk).
The survey will take you approximately 15 minutes to complete. Please gather information on relevant fleet and sales data of different types of vehicles of your company to complete the survey.
