About the Survey

I am so proud to be part of such a strong and diverse sector of film societies and community cinemas. Our annual survey paints an important picture of community film exhibition across the UK: The more responses we have, the clearer picture we can present. This makes a big difference to how the sector is supported and shows that together, we are a force to be reckoned with!” Tim Swanwick, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Cinema For All

Community Cinemas have a history of programming incredible films, reaching large and diverse audiences and creating social harmony in a way few other art-forms can. By telling us about your season, you are ensuring the importance of your hard work is heard about across the country and beyond” Jaq Chell, Head of Operations and Sector Development, Cinema For All

This survey assumes you operated a screening season running from spring 2017 to spring 2018. If this is not the case please answer the questions using the most recent 12 month period appropriate to your screening year (e.g. calendar year 2017). Please attempt to answer all the questions. We understand this can be time-consuming, but this does give us a full picture of your activities and a wider view on the sector as a whole in order to properly advocate for and raise funds to support the sector and its development. Data gathered by the survey will also be presented in the BFI Statistical Yearbook. We really do appreciate your efforts in completing this survey! Any questions left blank will be disregarded during analysis.

Complete the survey before 5:00pm on 14 August to be entered into our prize draw to win 2 tickets to the Cinema For All National Conference 2018 as well as 2 runner up prizes of films and goodies.

Rest assured your answers will be treated in strict confidence and in accordance with the Data Protection Act. No organisation will be identified in any public report made of the survey findings unless you give us your express permission.
