Artificial intelligence driven approaches usually refer to machine learning models. Algorithms are trained on clinical data, images or language in order to solve a certain task. Certain algorithms such as automated radiology reports are already on the market. It is less clear how other applications will deploy in the clinical practice.

Working professionals in rheumatology from the digital rheumatology network have put together ten questions to understand the utility, felt need, and attitude of digital scientists, engineers and doctors towards artificial intelligence driven approaches in rheumatology. We request you to kindly spare 3 minutes of your precious time to take this short survey. If you have any questions, please reach out to Thomas.hugle@chuv.ch.

Question Title

* Would you use a machine learning tool that predicts treatment response of your RA patients in daily practice?

Question Title

* In a patient with rheumatoid arthritis, how far ahead would you like to predict the evolution of arthritic illness or course of disease activity?

Question Title

* If a tool were to inform you of the predicted course of illness in a patient with rheumatoid arthritis, how would you like to receive this information? (multiple answers are possible)

Question Title

* Which of this parameters would you like to see in an algorithm to take treatment decisions in RA patients?

Question Title

* Do you think that machine learning algorithms will be used broadly to assign patients to phenotypes?

Question Title

* How could clustering/phenotyping of patients with arthritis help in clinical practice?

Question Title

* Do you think it would be useful if patients had a say in what clinical or lifestyle variables should be included in an algorithm or what outcome should be predicted?

Question Title

* Would you like any of the following features of AI integrated into automated digital reporting of X-rays?
