Information

For the purposes of this survey:

·  ‘Research’ means the collection or analysis of information specifically to gain new insights into a disease or problem. This differs from audit and service evaluation, which evaluate pre-existing pathways or problems and assess performance against a standard. Quality improvement may involve aspects of both, and we ask the reader to make a judgement about the extent to which any QI experience may have involved research.

·  'Data’ for research can take many forms, and may include questionnaires, interviews, blood or tissue samples or review of patient notes.
