CPRE Peak District and South Yorkshire survey for Future of Longdendale
Longdendale stretches from Mottram in the East to Thurlstone Moors and has some magnificent countryside. From its reservoirs and wooded slopes to its wild peat moorland, it provides many benefits to us all - drinking water, flood mitigation, carbon sequestration and extensive opportunities for recreation in a dramatic landscape. Much of it lies in the Peak District National Park but its future is in the balance as the climate emergency unfolds, with potentially huge losses in wildlife. As we attempt to address these threats through renewable energy, low carbon travel, changes in payments to land managers and farmers, better insulated buildings and less waste, what should the future of Longdendale look like?
This survey is open to everyone, and we will share the findings online and use the outputs to inform our campaigning for Longdendale’s future.
