AI Site Survey

Resonance Health is looking for collaborators to trial a new MRI software tool developed by Resonance Health that uses artificial neural networks to measure liver iron concentration (LIC).  The artificial neural networks have been trained on data from the Gold Standard FerriScan R2-MRI technology.  The following survey will collect information on current radiology practices and suitable centres may have the opportunity to participate in a ground-breaking pilot study.    All participants will receive a copy of the survey report.

This survey has the endorsement of the Thalassaemia International Federation. TIF have the following message:

"The Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF) focuses considerable interest in the accurate and reliable measurement and monitoring of iron load in the heart and liver as a means of contributing to the appropriate assessment of the effectiveness, particularly of the iron chelation therapy provided to each patient with transfusion dependent thalassaemia. Additionally reliable iron measurements are essential in the case of monitoring the progress of non-transfusion dependent thalassaemia for taking prompt and appropriate action in its management. In this context, TIF supports the efforts of Resonance Health in developing more economical ways to, equally reliably and effectively, measure iron deposits in vital organs of the body.   Therefore, we kindly encourage you to complete this questionnaire."

* Please state which of the following best describes your position?

* How many patients require LIC measurement at your centre each year approximately?

* Do you use MRI to measure liver iron concentration?

* If 'Yes',  how many scans do you perform a year to measure LIC?

* How are patients referred to your centre?

* Which approach do you use to measure liver iron concentration?

* Do patients at your centre have access to chelation treatment to remove excess iron?

* How are the costs of providing the MRI service funded?

* What do you think could be an acceptable price point for any new MRI tool to provide an accurate LIC report, that could be supported by local health ministries or hospital budgets in terms of cost per scan in USD?

* Would an annual license fee (with unlimited scans) be preferable to a pay per click model?

* Do you think current LIC measurements performed at your centre can be improved?

* If 'Yes' to the above question, please specify how:

* FerriScan R2 is recognized as the Gold Standard technology for measuring liver iron concentration and is established at over 230 hospitals across 33 countries. What are the biggest barriers to using FerriScan R2 MRI for measuring Liver Iron Concentration at your centre?

* Do you use only one scanner for making measurements?

* What field strength scanner do you use?
