The module is mostly in the form of a quiz. It is a straightforward quiz; not designed to trip you up or to ‘test’ you, but just to ensure you have fully understood what is required in order to maximise your chances of successfully gaining HLTA status. There are 4 sections that can be completed in any order. Overall the module should take between 2 and 3 hours. You are able if you wish to complete different units on different days. You may find it useful to refer to the BPN support materials handbook and the national Preparation for Assessment Handbook available from www.hlta.org.uk.

Yes, you choose whether or not you want the Head to be interviewed.

Yes, you can choose as many teachers as you want to be interviewed.

Yes, two teachers can be interviewed together and either can respond to any question asked by the assessor.

Yes, if needs be but they will be interviewed separately and the total time should not exceed 30 minutes. Most candidates only have one teacher for the full 30 minutes.

Yes, that’s fine, but only an individual with QTS can verify that you have met standard 31. Therefore, a qualified teacher should also be interviewed during the 30 minutes allocated.

Yes, that’s fine. The HLTA can be interviewed as the teacher for the whole 30 minutes.

No, HLTAs cannot be interviewed as part of the assessment process.
