Wholesale Local Food Champion

Following the success of our Delivering Growth Through Wholesale (DGTW) training programme, SWA has received Scottish Government funding to further extend the Scottish sourcing opportunity for local producers selling through the wholesale route to market.

This opportunity is available to wholesalers that nominate at least one individual within their business to be trained in becoming a Wholesale Local Food Champion. These individuals will be given the training, knowledge and understanding of a strong local food and drink supply chain.

With the purpose of those Champions becoming:

A contact for local producers to start engagement with your business. Such individuals are not necessarily buyers but could be a rising star looking for additional responsibilities and an opportunity to grow and develop their career within your company. Someone who will liaise with your buyers and procurement team.
Someone that will develop a good understanding more about your local food market, its’ opportunity & help seek out new local/Scottish products.
Someone that will promote the benefits of sourcing and selling local products within your business:
- Sharing their training & knowledge with their peers & colleagues. Instilling a deeper understanding & buy-in of local producers within all areas of the business.
- Helping promote the benefits of the DGTW programme to local and Scottish producers.
- Where feasible, connect with regional food groups and actively get involved in future SWA ‘local producer’ events and networking.

Cost

FREE to SWA members.

Due to minimum numbers being required for the training sessions, SWA reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the sessions without recourse.
