Cranborne Chase Landscape Partnership Bid Dear ColleagueThe Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) team is extremely grateful to everyone who has volunteered their time and expertise over the years. From helping to set out table and chairs at events and meetings, leading guided walks to providing extra man power at the bi-annual Woodfair, the input from volunteers has proved invaluable. A big thank you goes to those of you who have filled in previous questionnaires – thank you for your continuing support. The AONB team would now like to establish what types of countryside related activities residents, local communities and visitors might be interested in. This information will be used to support a funding application to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) called Landscape Partnerships which, if successful, will run from 2018 – 2023. What features of the AONB would you like to learn more about? This would be through a variety of means including leaflets, guided walks, talks, seminars or conferences. (Please tick all that apply). Quiet Recreation: walking cycling horse riding access routes for high mobility scooters map and compass training session for beginners Habitats: chalk grassland ancient woodland chalk streams arable (plants and birds) Wildlife: key species such hedgehogs bats butterflies dormouse harvest mouse turtle dove History and archaeology: how people used to move through the landscape along historic routeways landscape change through studying old maps, aerial photographs etc the archaeological pioneers who worked on the Chase and the Chalke Valley and the birth of modern archaeology mans’ occupation of the area from Neolithic to Modern day Cultural connections: how artists, writers, poets have interpreted the landscape from past to present recreating events such as the Medieval Chase Court and Fayre and driving sheep along the Ox Drove recording oral histories Dark Night Skies – the myriad of stars that populate the dark skies over the Cranborne Chase and Chalke Valley Other (please specify) Question Title * 2.
