The people of Portgordon have achieved a huge amount recently. Planning for Real and the Four Pillars of Sustainability have helped us think through priorities for our community. We have seen the establishment of polycrubs and electric vehicle charging points. A Development Trust is being established. We are entering an exciting period where things are starting to happen. The Portgordon Harbour Group was set up to look into the development of the whole harbour area for the benefit of the local community. Local people have identified a real gap for a heart in our community, a place where lots of local organisations and services can come together to operate under one roof. We now aim to determine the thoughts of local residents about developing a vibrant community and cultural hub, serving local needs and enhancing the quality of life in Portgordon and the surrounding area.
We have recently secured funding to appoint consultants to review the feasibility of the idea. A business plan will also be delivered An essential part of the consultants' work is to establish our local needs and ascertain the level of community support for the project With community support, this exciting project will succeed.
This survey is being carried out on our behalf by our consultants Community Enterprise (www.communityenterprise.co.uk). It is designed to find out what you, as members of our community, need in terms of community facilities and the extent to which, if our project is successful, you will support future activities in the hub.
All information gathered will be treated in the strictest confidence. Paper copies of the survey can be found in the village shop and can be dropped off there when completed. The survey can also be accessed on line at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Portgordon and will be open until 31st March 2021.
