Introduction

The Cross-Party Parliamentary Taskforce on Kinship Care was launched in December 2018. It aims to raise awareness about, and support for, children in kinship care and to highlight the importance of this option for children who cannot live with their parents. The Office of Anna Turley MP and Family Rights Group provide the secretariat for the Taskforce. This survey is intended to improve the Taskforce’s understanding of local authorities' approaches to kinship care, including the numbers of kinship carers supported, the extent of services, best practice in the field and challenges faced. The results will be written into a paper and will form part of the evidence gathering phase of the Taskforce’s work. The Taskforce will produce a report with recommendations in Summer 2019. A copy of the paper and the final Taskforce Report will be sent to all local authorities who have participated in the survey and indicated they wish to receive it.

Those carrying out the analysis comply with Family Rights Group's Confidentiality Policy and Privacy Policy.
