Virtual Volunteering: Successes and Challenges, 25 November 2021

Peer Learning Session:  Virtual Volunteering: Successes and Challenges

Thursday 25 November 2021, from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Free session on Zoom

During the pandemic, many organisations moved their services online and volunteering was delivered virtually or remotely.  Now that some in-person services are starting again, organisations are considering what virtual elements to retain and develop.  During this interactive Peer Learning session, we will consider good practice in relation to virtual volunteering.

Clare Derry, Volunteer Programme Manager at Refuge (a national charity supporting women and children experiencing domestic violence), will be sharing her experience of the benefits, challenges and learning from pivoting most of Refuge’s volunteering to be remote during the past 17 months and now beginning to resume in-person volunteering.

We will discuss good practice in managing virtual volunteers including changing volunteer roles, vetting, support and supervision, communication, scheduling, diversity and inclusion, retaining existing volunteers and maintaining a mix of virtual and face-to-face volunteering.

Venue: Zoom (the meeting link will be sent to you when your place is confirmed)
This session is suitable for experienced Volunteer Managers as well as those who are new to managing volunteers.

Priority will be given to voluntary sector organisations with a base/office in Tower Hamlets, or that have services aimed at Tower Hamlets residents.

Cost: Our Peer Learning is kindly subsidised via a grant from the London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH).  VCTH is committed to providing Peer Learning free-of-charge during the pandemic.  However, we charge a £50 fee for late cancellations and no-shows to ensure that limited training places are not wasted.
