Why is the Our Irish Sea project important?

The Project

Over the last two and a half years the Our Irish Sea project has engaged local communities in Lancashire with the amazing marine life of the Irish Sea. Our aim throughout the project was to ensure more people were using and appreciating our beautiful coastline. Therefore, we have run a variety of events, activities, surveys, workshops, exhibitions and training courses along the coast to make more people aware of the beauty and diversity in our sea, but also to highlight the threats that our marine life faces.

With the help of the public we have campaigned to protect our valuable habitats and species for the future. We have encouraged more people to take action to help protect and save our marine environment through taking part in Shoresearches, Seawatches and by becoming ‘Marine Champions’ (our invaluable volunteers on the project), or by writing letters of support for our campaigns and attending our family-focused events.

The survey

In order for us to show the difference that the Our Irish Sea project has made in raising awareness and changing perceptions about the wonderful marine life in Lancashire, to coastal communities and beyond, we need your input!

We would like to hear everyone’s views but we would especially like to hear from you if you completed our first survey at the start of the project, in order to show how the project has changed your perceptions or developed your local marine knowledge.
