Welcome to the NanoReg2 Industry Survey

As part of the NanoReg2 project the Institute of Occupational Medicine (IOM) is asking organisations that manufacture, make, use, distribute or dispose of nanomaterials about their understanding and practice around minimising worker and end user risk of nanomaterials with the aim of identifying barriers and facilitators.

What is NanoReg2?
NanoReg2 is a project that involves 42 organisations across more than 15 countries working together for 3 years to create principles that will underpin the next generation of regulation. The project aims to 'establish Safe by Design as a fundamental pillar in the discovery, screening and commercialisation of novel nanomaterials and nano enabled products'. This survey will provide important information about current and foreseen barriers and facilitators in the minimisation of the risk of nanomaterials in industry to inform this project.  Further information is available at www.nanoreg2.eu.

How long will it take to complete the survey?

The survey should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete. If you start responding to the survey but would prefer to complete later, then you can complete a portion of a survey and return later using the same link to finish the rest.

Who should complete the survey?
We would like individuals who manage product development, Health & Safety, production engineering  or who manage any further risks in relation to the development, manufacture, use or disposal of nanomaterials to complete the questionnaire.

What will I be asked about?

Near the start of the survey you will be asked if you have heard of the Safe by Design concept, the questions asked after this will depend on your response:
  • If you answer 'yes' then you will be asked about your understanding of the concept, its application and barriers and facilitators to this.
  • If you answer 'no' then you will be asked about how worker and end user risk of nanomaterials is minimised.
Why should I participate?
Your participation would provide the NanoReg2 project with more relevant information from industry on the minimising of worker and end user risk of nanomaterials. Your participation would be greatly appreciated.

How will the collected data be treated and used?
The data collected will be anonymised, aggregated and summarised before initially being shared within the NanoReg2 project and then at a later date part of a wider report.  No companies, organisations or individuals will be identified and all information we collect from you will be treated confidentially in accordance with Data Protection Legislation.

Where can I find out more about the project?
