Volunteering requires a minimum commitment to volunteer at least one shift per week for 6 months.
The two volunteer roles we normally offer are: Responder: This role involves you carrying out a variety of tasks around the hospital with tasks such as organising patient flow in outpatient clinics, giving directions, providing wheelchairs and delivering pharmacy medicine to wards. This is a varied and interesting role which provides insights into many different parts of the hospital. It involves frequently interacting with staff and patients. The shifts run 9-1pm or 1-5pm on weekdays. Ward Helper: This befriending role is based on one of our adult inpatient wards. It involves supporting patients during mealtimes, socializing with them, making teas and coffees and carrying out other tasks that support the patients and staff. The shifts run 11.30-2.30pm or 5-8pm. This role will give you experience in a clinical environment in the NHS if you are thinking of a career in healthcare.
