Customer Consultation

It was announced last year MSV are in discussions with Great Places Housing Group about a proposed merger. We are now at the stage where we need to consult with all our customers on this proposal. At the very heart of the decision to merge is the commitment and knowledge that MSV needs to constantly improve the services we provide to customers. Life is hard for many people at the moment, there are many significant challenges on the horizon, and we need to be in a strong position to do everything we can to deliver the best possible services and support customers.

Both organisations work hard to provide safe and secure homes, to operate an effective repairs service, build and invest in homes and communities and create environments in which people can truly flourish. We now need to build on this, and one of the key drivers for the merger is to deliver more together as one larger organisation. The number one aim of the merger and the top priority will be to ensure we provide the best possible services to customers.

Great Places, like MSV, has a long history of working in Greater Manchester and the Great Places are, in many ways, very similar to MSV. As well as working in the same areas, both organisations have a shared history of working in Greater Manchester and across the North West region for well over 50 years. This shared knowledge and understanding of our customers and communities means we are in a great position to deliver genuinely tailored and locally focussed services where customers have a real voice and influence North West Region. The merger will enable us to take the best parts of both organisations and cultures forward, creating a new business with customers at its heart.

What will the new organisation look like? The new organisation will be called Great Places with a Head Office in South Manchester. However, we will continue to deliver services across the region through agile working. The MSV brand will remain in some key areas where we are already a well known organisation in the community.

Benefits of Merger
> Put customer voice and influence at the heart of decision-making
> Focus on doing the basics well for all customers
> Significantly strengthen our responsive repairs service
> Invest more in existing homes
> Develop thousands of new homes to help tackle the housing crisis
> Design new neighbourhood plans with our residents
> Ramp up our work in sustainability (absolutely essential in the current climate), building safety and regeneration of communities
> Continue to invest in specialist homes and services such as care leaver accommodation and later living schemes.

What does this mean for me?
> The merger will create efficiencies that will allow the new organisation to invest around £4m extra a year into services for customers
> We will be putting the customer voice at the very heart of the business
> We will be investing even more into customers’ homes, tackling climate change and fuel poverty
> We will be in a position to build thousands of new homes for people who need them in our communities
