Guernsey Early Years Quality Standards Framework for Childminders

The Early Years Quality Standards Framework for Childminders (GEYQSF) will replace the current Guernsey Minimum Standards for Childminders.  This document is being written to ensure a consistency of quality is offered in the safeguarding, welfare, learning and development across all childminders in the Bailiwick.  The preliminary document attached is the first draft of new standards with suggestions which align across the wider sector whilst raising the profile and quality our Childminders offer.  The States Early Years Team seeks your views and professional opinion as we seek to improve our standards for children across the Bailiwick.

The first part of the GEYQSF for Childminders outlines general expectations and understanding of why quality standards are essential in assuring the quality of services for all children in registered early years provision and promoting their continuing improvement.

This States Early Years Team consultation seeks views from a wide range of professionals who work with the under-fives in the Bailiwick. A joined up approach in enabling our children to reach their full potential is essential if we are to have an equitable offer for all our children and families and the standards should reflect this.
