CapeUK has been commissioned by Arts Council England (ACE) to carry out a ‘state of the sector’ review of formal learning in museums in England.

If schools use your museum, we’d be very grateful if you would spare 20 minutes to complete this survey before the deadline of Monday 29 February. Your response will inform our research and recommendations to ACE about the future of formal learning in museums and help ACE plan its advocacy and investment for this vitally important area of work.

We hope the research will also highlight innovations and insights that can be shared widely within the sector and help us improve our collective offer to children and young people across all phases of formal education, from 3 to 19 years old.

The survey asks about:

· Your current offer for schools
· How you assess the quality of your offer
· How you are developing, delivering and resourcing formal learning provision
· Barriers and enablers to delivering and sustaining a high-quality offer

We appreciate that people working in museums and galleries are very busy. But only your input can give us the evidence-base that will enable us to build up a picture of what is happening to formal learning in museums and advocate for the brilliant work you do.

Thank you for your time.
Note: You should only complete the survey if your organisation is an accredited museum or a museum working towards accreditation. If your museum is part of a larger service with several sites, please give answers that relate to the service as a whole.

The survey should take about 20 minutes to complete, but may take a little longer if you use the comment boxes to provide additional information. Although the survey will store your responses while the tab is open, you will lose the data you have entered when you close your computer down. For that reason, it’s a good idea to complete it in one sitting.
