Moray & Banffshire Heroes sponsored by Inverness Airport, is an award scheme recognising the people in the Moray and Banffshire area who make a real difference to our communities, healthcare, education, safety and wellbeing. Nominations are now open for this year's awards with a deadline for entries of midnight, Saturday 6th June. Moray & Banffshire Heroes will culminate in an awards ceremony at the Mansefield Hotel in Elgin on Thursday 3rd September 2020. 

There are a total of 12 categories for nomination with an additional Hero of Heroes category which will be selected by the judges.

Primary Pupil of the Year
A primary school pupil who has achieved something beyond expectations in education, sport or helping others at school.

Secondary Pupil of the Year
A secondary pupil who has achieved something beyond expectations in education, sport or helping others at school.

Primary Teacher of the Year
A primary school teacher who has made a significant difference, beyond the normal expectations, to the learning experience of their pupils.

Secondary Teacher of the Year
A secondary school teacher who has made a significant difference, beyond the normal expectations, to the learning experience of their pupils.

Carer of the Year
An individual who cares for a loved one and who has made personal sacrifices in order to tend to the needs of others.

Fundraiser of the Year
An individual who devotes his or her time and effort to raise funds for local charities or causes.

Volunteer of the Year
An individual who has been beyond generous in volunteering their time and talents to help others.

Community Champion of the Year
An individual who has made a significant contribution to their community.

Brave Child of the Year
A child who has overcome extreme adversity or shown exceptional courage or bravery.

Health Professional of the Year
An individual within the healthcare sector who has provided a service above and beyond the call of duty, improving or making an impact on the quality of life of others.

Emergency Services or Armed Forces Hero of the Year
An outstanding member of the emergency services or armed forces who has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Public Servant of the Year
An individual who has gone the extra mile in the delivery of their job, making a real difference to their service users, the organisation they work for or the community they work in.

Hero of Heroes
The judges will make a special award to one of the 12 category winners.
