Introduction

Hello,

BOP is undertaking mapping and research of the Midlands music scene for Arts Council England. The
research focuses on three inter-related areas - the music sector ecology, talent development and touring - in relation to four genres: contemporary popular, folk, jazz and world music. The aim is to identify and assess
challenges and demand for investment within the Midlands Music scene, to ensure future support is
effectively targeted.

The following survey feeds into our research, and we particularly welcome your insights as sector
representatives. Your responses will support a report with recommendations for Arts Council England, with key findings being made publicly available on the Arts Council England website.

The survey ends with the opportunity to become part of a Midlands Music Directory, for those who are
interested (more details provided below).
