Admission for Reception September 2021

Welcome to Meryfield Community Primary School, I am delighted that you are considering our school as a starting point for your child's learning journey.

Normally at this point in the year, we invite new parents to look around our Reception classes during the school day in preparation for September 2021 admission. This enables prospective parents to get a full picture as to how Reception classes are organised. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are unable to offer these tours this year.

 This year we have prepared and filmed a virtual tour of the classroom environment and learning to support parents and children in getting a ‘feel’ for the school. We hope that this virtual tour provides an insight into how our Reception classes operate. After you have watched both the virtual tour and the ‘Welcome to Reception PowerPoint’ you will have a comprehensive overview of the school and what we offer.

However, we understand that a few parents may still want to visit and there will be a limited amount of tours offered.

In order to comply with current Government guidance the tours will:

 · be held after school hours on a Friday only so that no children are on site and the classroom environment can be cleaned in line with COVID requirements.

· be for one adult only per family to limit the number of people on site. Maximum of 4 people on each tour

 · be held in the outside environment with a very brief opportunity to see the indoor classrooms and meet the teachers.

 · we require all visitors to wear masks (please bring your own), sanitise your hands and socially distance at all times. Your details for track and trace will be required ahead of your visit

Respectfully, we will ask you not to touch any areas or equipment during your visit. Children, including babies, cannot be accommodated on the tours due to restrictions on numbers allowed on site.

Unfortunately tours will only be offered for parents that are new to the school. Hopefully if your child is with us already in our Nursery, you will have had a tour of the classroom. 

Tours will be limited to 20 minutes and will be held mostly outside, with a brief opportunity to go into the classroom.

 Please do not arrive at school without an appointment. If you have any general questions about Reception, you can email the Early Years Leader Miss Davern at admin@meryfield.herts.sch.uk and she will aim to respond within one working week.

Under normal circumstances, we take great pride in welcoming prospective parents and their children. However, this is an exceptional year and we need to make these changes to keep everyone safe. We thank you in advance for your understanding and support.

Finally, please be aware that tours are subject to cancellation if the situation with COVID changes. Thank you for your support.
